Dr Tanya Howard has been awarded Armidale's 2021 Environmental Citizen of the Year. She is convenor of Sustainable Living Armidale Inc (which is an affiliated member group of Southern New England Landcare Ltd) and Climate Action Armidale, and is a passionate advocate for action on climate change.

Dr Howard has worked tirelessly to raise public awareness of natural resource management, environmental sustainability and climate change.  She is Senior Research Fellow with Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law, at the University of New England. Currently she is leading a multi-disciplinary team on the Bushfires and Natural Hazards CRC project ‘The Human Dimensions of Environmental Crime’.
