    Chemical & Chainsaw Training

TAFE NSW has chemical application training & chainsaw operations courses available. Great opportunity for Landcare volunteers to update or learn new skills.

    Chemical Application Workshop

    Location: Armidale
    Date: 25th & 26th May 2021

As Armidale Regional Council requires volunteers to hold applicable accreditation, to apply chemicals and/or operate chainsaws whilst volunteering at Armidale Urban Rivercare Group related activities, here's an opportunity for loacl Landcare volunteers to update your skills and accrediation. This would apply for other groups doing similar activities on Council owned land.  NB: Chemical Cards expire after 5 years and ARC requires regular updating of Chainsaw Accreditation.

Chemical Application Workshopwill cover the following Units:

    • AHCCHM 304 – Transport, handle and store chemicals, and
    • AHCCHM307 - Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weed and diseases

Chainsaw Operations Workshops: have been arranged for Walcha and Glen Innes. Unfortunately there are no proposed workshops for Armidale in the foreseeable future, but there may be places available at some of the other site workshops.

If any AURG volunteers are interested in these workshops, you can contact your Group Rep, Bryan Johnston and he will arrange for information to be forwarded to you. For others interested in the chemical workshop, please contact Pauline Smith at the Armidale TAFE's Rural Skills Centre on 02 6773 7110.
