    Proudly presented by Young Farmer Business Program and NSW Young Farmers, these FREE workshops are aimed at helping young farmers and fishers find, write, and win grants and understand the role of governance.

    Hear from Engage & Create Consulting founder, Julia Spicer. Julia works with regional communities across the country on a range of projects, with a focus on identifying needs in business and implementing creative solutions to address them. Her passion lies with small businesses, sustainable agriculture and regional women in leadership.

    "Save Your Rump – Boss Skills Basics for Farmers" workshop, Thursday, 6th May, 2021

    This workshop aims to cover issues that arise when starting out – employing your first worker(s) and managing farm business risks:   

    • Business goals - why it’s important to have them and to communicate them to the team
    • Communication and Negotiation - Vices, Tips & Tricks
    • What are your employment obligations under the law?
    • Safety - the cost to business and to workers, family and self, should an accident happen
    • Insurance–what is appropriate insurance and implications of being under or over insured 
    • Contractor vs employees
    • Types of employment (casual vs permanent)
    • Superannuation ..... and much more
