New England Weeds Authority will be expanding its operational area to include the Inverell Shire Council for the next twelve months.
The organisation is pleased to announce the inclusion of Inverell based, Geoff Riley to their Biosecurity team. Click link for more details.
Also NEWA is urging landholders to be on the lookout for sightings of Fireweed (Senecio madagascariensis).
The weed is extremely invasive and can quickly overtake pastures once established. It contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are toxic to stock – particularly cattle and horses. Click here for a link to a fireweed information flyer.
If you see something you think looks like Fireweed, please contact New England Weeds Authority Biosecurity Officers on 02 6770 3602.
