The program is a 3-year PhD project run by Will Ashley, from Macquarie University.
The aim of the program is to identify key population information about foxes in Australia to benefit management. They are seeking volunteers to assist in the collection of tissue samples from fox carcasses across Australia.
The AusFox Project is investigating the population structure, dispersal patterns, and connectivity of red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) across Australia using a population genetic approach.
The AusFox Project needs as broad a spatial coverage as possible, across all of Australia. Multiple samples from locations they have already covered are still welcome, as not every sample will yield useable DNA, and they are collecting foxes from different family groups, which can provide useful results.
Follow this link https://www.ausfoxproject.com/map to see locations where the samples collected, so far have come from. If you have collected samples for the project you can see your samples in the mapping.
If you can provide a tissue sample, follow this link. https://www.ausfoxproject.com/send-a-sample
