Recently the National Farmers Federation (NFF) launched this fantastic campaign to tell the climate stories of Australian farmers.
Our farmers are world leaders in carbon abatement. We’re a key part of the climate solution! #RealClimateAction.
As the NFF succincly puts it; "Through innovation and practice change, Australian farmers are part of the climate solution. Farms are a living part of the carbon cycle – emitting greenhouse gasses, but also capturing and storing them in our landscape. With farms covering more than 50% of our continent, they’re a critical part of Australia’s response to climate change."
Profiled in a group of Australian Farmers by the NFF, is local producer, General Manager of Wilmot Cattle Company and SNELandcare Member, Stuart Austin. He notes subtle changes in the landscape each time he shifts cattle to fresh pasture at the 1854-hectare-property on the Ebor Plateau of northern NSW. Native plants are emerging and the pasture biomass and ground cover continue to flourish, following a shift in grazing management nine-years-ago. Click here to read Stuart's feature article.
If you’re a farmer doing your bit for #RealClimateAction, post a short video and the NFF will share it on their gallery.
