Celebrate the International Day of Rural Women via Zoom
When: Friday, 15th October 2021.
Time: from 10.30am
You are invited to join the GRIT – a virtual morning tea with Catherine Marriott. This special event for the 2021 International Day of Rural Women, is being held by the GRO Events Group, in partnership with Rural Aid.
The most recent statistics from the Australian Government census in 2016 indicated that 32% of the Australian agriculture workforce are women. Following years of drought, flood, fire and now COVID-19, Australian women across the rural and agricultural landscape have acted as pillars of strength. Not only have they contributed to on- and off-farm income, they have managed households (completing 13% more work than other women in Australia), supported friends and family, juggled kids and work, and given extensively to their communities, all often unrecognised.
What is the key ingredient here? Grit.
Description
Grit. (noun) Courage and resolve; strength of character.
Hosted by Dimity from GRO Events Group, you will hear a live Q&A from the inspiring and incredible Catherine Marriott, CEO of Riverine Plains, UNE’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award winner, a graduate of the Australian Rural Leadership Program and the 2012 WA Rural Women of the Year. Catherine, as someone who always speaks from the heart, will share her experiences of grit – her work and personal life and everything she has learnt along the way.
During the virtual morning tea, you will also hear from the brilliant Lauren Stracey (Manager Mental Health and Wellbeing), and Heidi Gray (Counsellor & Community Representative - Northern New South Wales) from Rural Aid, to hear about the incredible projects and support they are rolling out across the country to support rural communities.
