Who's hanging out in the Creekline plantings?

bigkoalaBen Vincent, a local plant ecologist with UNE's School of Environmental and Rural Science, recently spotted this koala on UNE's grounds, and kindly advised our Koala Conservation Officer, Des Andersen, of his find.

On a stroll with his son, Finn, Ben waS walking along Dumaresq Creek, when they came across this "cuddly little individual".

The section of plantings, where the koala was sighted, is along the creekline below the colleges and across from SportUNE next to the little walkway bridge. The tree of choice, in the photo, is a Black Sallee (Eucalyptus stellulata).

These native plantings are a wonderful addition to the creekline in their own right, and it's fantastic to see them being utilised by a local.

Thanks Ben & Finn for keeping us informed!
