Environmental Markets Leadership Program - can you help?

Monash uniFarmers are increasingly diversifying their income with off-farm payments for good management of carbon, biodiversity and water on their farm.

Are you curious about whether it would work for your farm? Or are you already having a crack at it?

You are invited to participate in an interview of one hour or less to share your views, beliefs and experience regarding primary producers’ / farmers’ entrepreneurship and participation in environmental markets.

Monash University researcher, Julia Meis-Harris  would like to talk to farmers, who are either just curious, or those who are already participating, to help design a program to help farmers like you to get into environmental markets.

Environmental markets enable farmers to exchange their supply of bio-physical goods and services that they measure and manage on their farm, for financial (and other) returns and complement traditional conservation programs and productive agriculture. These goods and services can include both natural and managed including protection of native habitat and species, carbon storage, biodiversity, reforestation, cleaner air and climate management, flood control, water filtration, drought management, soil nutrient replenishment and many others.

The researchers acknowledge it’s complicated, full of traps for young players, and there are lots of options. This program will aim to put the farmer first, and help you work out what is right for you and your farm. But to do it right, they need to hear from people like you. If you've got time to share your thoughts, please schedule in a chat with Julia directly to arrange a time.
