Earth Canvas is about reconnecting people with the farming landscape and using the eye of the artist to express what they see. It is about empowering people to be part of the solution to make the planet earth a better place. Earth Canvas started with 6 leading Australian artists working on 6 regenerative farms between the Murray and Murrumbidgee Rivers, on the SW slopes of NSW. The artists produced over 70 artworks now travelling to 6 regional galleries. Currently at Tamworth Regional Gallery from April 28 to June 12, 2022.
Here's a unique opportunity to visit "Lana", a working Merino Wool and Cattle property near Uralla, to meet the owners and Regenerative farmers, Tim and Suzanne Wright, and Walcha based artist, Stephen King.
Tim Wright says “The key to successful natural capital management will be crunching the numbers to prove the link with long term farm profitability”.
Artist & farmer, Stephen King says, “I mostly use windfall timber from our farm to make my sculpture, and most of this work is about farming”.
Visitors will learn about the importance of ground cover to protect the soil. Along with the importance of animals grazing to build biodiversity and ecological processes. At the Roumalla Creek, the headwater of the Gwydir catchment, a presentation about the natural environment will encompass water, plants, platypus, yabbies and the Bells Turtle.
