Preliminary advice for the next AURG working bee, scheduled for October.
Date: Sunday, 9th October 2022
Location: Northern side of the creek, parkland accessed from the corner of Jeffrey and Douglas Streets.
Time: 8.30am
Weather & ground conditions permitting.
This will involve further planting and mulching and a general tidy up of the site on the northern side of the creek accessed from the corner of Jeffrey and Douglas Streets (see map below), or along the walking / bicycle track.
As the ground is still generally wet, we advise parking on the street around the area of the corner of Jeffrey and Douglas streets. An extra wheel barrow and some large forks to handle mulch may come in handy if you have these on hand.
We are continuing with removal of Prickly Acacia and other exotic trees and shrubs on the northern side of the creek, as part of the preparation for our Weedy Wasteland to Wildlife Wetland project.
Our last planting event on September 11 was well attended. However, the site has been flooded twice since. See images below.
Helen Webb advised that she did some tidying up and repairs to the area following the first flooding, only to be faced with further loss of cartons with the second event. Many thanks for your efforts and updates Helen.
I also appreciate getting calls from ‘walkers’ advising of damage to our WW2WW fence damage – we can then follow-up in a timely way.
What to bring: BYO long sleeved shirt, long pants and sturdy boots. Please also bring gloves, broad brim hat and sunscreen. An additional wheel barrow may come in handy if you have one.
Covid 19 Reminder. Bear in mind the current requirements for social distancing whilst working and eating. We will allocate tasks and eating arrangements depending upon numbers.
AURG will provide equipment, morning tea and a BBQ lunch for a gold coin donation.
Please also note the membership requirements below. Membership is free but essential for public liability and insurance purposes. I will bring a current membership list, membership forms and a guide for updating via your i-Phone.
