Our collective breaths were held in the lead up to the AGM, from 1.30pm onwards when the Walcha/Uralla/Balala districts experienced a massive blackout! Half an hour before we were due to start, there was a flicker - lights, camera, action!
Two special awards were announced on the night. The winner of the Co-ordinator's Choice award was Angus Adair, from the Armidale Urban Rivercare Group. This award acknowledged Angus for his dedication and voluntary input toward the Weedy Wasteland to Widlife Wetland project, stepping up to assist with the management of WW2WW in the absence of Bruce Whan, who has been unwell for several months. Angus' expertise, mentoring and leadership has been invaluable in the continued progression of the project.
Southern New England Landcare awarded the 2022 John Winter-Irving Bequest to Peter Barkley in recognition of his inspiration, dedication & commitment to the heritage community & sporting facilities at the historic Barry Munday Reserve, and the Friends of Barry Munday Reserve Group (FoBMR). FoBMR Landcare group was established in 2020 to protect and enhance a small recreation reserve on Mundays Lane at Saumarez Ponds, west of Armidale.
