The NSW Government has appointed the Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) as the infrastructure planner for the New England REZ.
Part of EnergyCo’s role is assessing options for the development of the transmission infrastructure needed for the REZ. Currently they are assessing a 500 kv transmission line through the Southern New England region.
EnergyCo has carried out detailed and extensive planning processes to develop a 1km wide preliminary study corridor for transmission lines from within the New England REZ, and south to the existing transmission network near Bayswater Power Station in Muswellbrook.
The study corridor is an area where they propose to undertake further technical and environmental studies to assist with refining the corridor.
Landowner and community consultation is now being carried out to help refine the transmission line corridor. As part of the community consultation process, EnergyCo has released a Project Overview document.
Additional information about the project can also be sourced from their website, including an online interactive map that allows interested parties to zoom down to individual parcels of land within proximity to the preliminary study corridor.
If the corridor runs through or past your property and you have not yet received a letter or a flier in the mail, please contact EnergyCo as soon as possible and request to be put on their list.
EnergyCo is also planning a number of community information sessions, details of which will shortly be published on their website as well as print and radio advertisements.
