We are writing to invite you and your network to participate in a research study about Australian One Health Activities and Expertise. The research is being conducted by Queensland University of Technology, Australia (QUT) and is supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security (see attached letter of support).
This project aims to map Australia’s current One Health policies, engagements and activities at all levels of governance. This will include both regional and wider international support for/through Australian expertise and transdisciplinary activities.
You are invited to participate in this research project because your work has been identified as a One Health (OH) activity i.e. one that “is an integrated, unifying approach that aims to sustainably balance and optimize the health of people, animals and ecosystems. It recognizes the health of humans, domestic and wild animals, plants, and the wider environment (including ecosystems) are closely linked and inter-dependent” (OHHLEP One Health definition, 2021).
Your participation will involve a survey of multiple choice and open-ended questions that will focus on your OH activities within your organisation and identify challenges and opportunities in improving the current Australian One Health system. We anticipate the survey will take approximately 15 minutes, per One Health project, to complete. We have allowed a maximum of four One Health projects to be inputted. If you have more than four One Health projects, please let me know and I will arrange to send you a spreadsheet to complete in lieu of this survey.
Your participation in this research project is entirely voluntary. Any professional duties of confidentiality that you have will remain in place throughout your participation in this research.
The information you provide will be stored under the QUT protocols, ensuring confidentiality.
You can find more information about the research project, the survey and potential risks on the Participant Information Sheet on the first page of the online survey. You can view the Participant Information Sheet before deciding whether to consent to participate in the survey.
You can access the survey here
We would be most grateful for your assistance in distributing this survey within your network to be completed by 31 May 2024.
