Spontaneous Volunteers in Disasters – Community Survey

Walcha Council is inviting community groups across the LGA to complete a short survey to help co-design a framework for managing spontaneous volunteers during disasters.

    Why this work is important:

When people arrive to help but aren’t part of an established group, it’s useful to have simple, safe processes in place for registering, briefing and supporting them.

The framework will help ensure these volunteers can work effectively alongside emergency services and local groups.

     What Council is asking:

    • One response per group (preferably from a committee member or leader). Survey link can be found here
    • Please complete the survey as soon as possible, it takes approximately 10–15 minutes

How your feedback will be used:

    • To develop straightforward local tools such as registration, check-in and communication processes
    • To understand how information currently flows within your group
    • To identify any training or resources that would be helpful
    • To guide future planning based directly on community input

If you would prefer a printed version of the survey or would like to discuss it, please phone 0408 032 506.

Feel free to share the link with other community or partner groups.

Thank you for contributing to this practical, community-focused planning for the Walcha LGA.
