The Armidale birdwatching group is an informal organisation of people who enjoy birdwatching.
Regular outings occur on the first Sunday of the month except January; there are extra events as well.
The meeting place is at the Armidale Visitor Information Centre Car Park, 82 Marsh Street, at 7:55 am prepared for departure at 8:00 am (both AEST and AEDT).
Bring food (morning tea and sometimes lunch) and water, binoculars, sunscreen, hat and wear stout shoes; bring a picnic chair as many bush spots do not have facilities.
All visitors are welcome. Newcomers wishing to join the group should contact Dr Stephen (Steve) Debus, or phone Shirley Cook: 0458 260 937 before the outing. All visitors are welcome.
Note 1: There are two yearly Regent Honeyeater/Swift Parrot surveys in autumn and spring (May and August) so there may be extra excursions to accommodate these surveys. If you are fortunate enough to find any Regents or Swifties at any time, please contact Stephen Debus having recorded precise details of the sighting – date, time, exact location and any observable behaviour if possible. Habitat observations (tree species, understory cover, flowering etc) are also very useful.
Note 2: The scheduled visit may be changed or cancelled if conditions on the day are likely to affect the excursion.
Note 3: All comers are welcome but it must be understood that each individual is responsible for their own safety and welfare.
