    Balala Wind Farm Update

The Balala Wind Farm is a proposed utility scale renewable energy development located approximately 10 kilometres west of Uralla, within the Uralla Shire Local Government Area.

The proposed project includes the development of up to 60 wind turbine generators, a 200MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), access roads, and ancillary facilities.

Pending approvals, construction is anticipated to commence in late 2030 with a peak construction workforce of approximately 210 full-time equivalent workers. Once completed, the project will generate approximately 420 MW of electricity each year, enough to supply around 150,000 households.

    Project update

EDF power solutions Australia recently submitted a Scoping Report for the proposed Balala Wind Farm Project to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure.

The Scoping Report is an important early step in the NSW environmental planning and assessment process. It provides the NSW Government with an overview of the proposed project and the key issues we expect will need to be considered as part of the environmental assessment.

The Report outlines the proposed project, including its location, key components, and potential impacts. It also identifies the studies and investigations that we propose to undertake to understand and assess these impacts in the next stage, the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). These may include matters such as biodiversity, noise, traffic and transport, visual impacts, Aboriginal cultural heritage, water, and social and economic impacts.
