    Koala News

I'm a Koala - Please help me out here!

This Landcare Koala Release video, from March 15, was magnificently captured and produced by Dave Waugh. (Dave, you rock!)

The young female koala was found on a property close to Uralla, with infected eyes - an indicator of the chlamydia disease.

A local resident, luckily, identified the koala in distress and arranged with our local WIRES service to transport her to Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.

After receiving treatments over a number of weeks at the hospital, our koala was well enough to be transported home, and released safe & healthy back into her native habitat.

This video is an excellent resource to promote interest in the Northern Tablelands Koala Partneship project and raise community awareness of koala protection and welfare.  A big thank you to David Waugh, Verso Design. David is an Armidale-based graphic designer, story-based filmmaker and art director!

This initiative has been made possible through the Northern Tablelands Koala Partnership, hosted by Southern New England Landcare Ltd, and funded by the NSW Government.
