New Podcast for Northern Tablelands Producers

Productive Producer High resAccessing relevant, geographically specific, up-to-date information, is crucial to delivering significant benefits to producers. Finding the time to seek out and evaluate the most appropriate information can prove challenging.

Max Newsome, Livestock Officer for Northern Tablelands Local Land Services, is confident that with the introduction of a new podcast series, this is about to change.
The Productive Producer podcast series is designed specifically for producers across the Northern Tablelands.

All topics featured in the podcasts will include a strong focus on production. Regardless of the theme, subjects will be relatable to the practical application of how the information can be implemented on farm.

“While the style of the podcasts will be conversational, I hope they will be engaging as well as informative,” Max said.
Podcasts will be presented by a host who will interview a number of guests selected for their industry knowledge and on-farm experience. The industry professionals will share their insight and opinion on a range of production related topics.

“Ideally, the podcasts will offer concepts and opinions on different aspects of production, some that producers will be familiar with, others that producers are looking into and would like to learn more about,” said Max.

What is particularly exciting about the Productive Producer series is that, while there are a raft of existing agricultural podcasts available, this is the first time a series has been developed specifically for the Northern Tablelands.

“I thought it was important for Northern Tablelands Local Land Services to continually move with the times with our extension and continue to get the message out across multiple platforms,” explained Max.

“While Northern Tablelands Local Land Services will continue to use traditional means of communication, I believe this is a good opportunity to provide quality technical information in all its different forms,” said Max.

One of the motivations for producing the series was the increase in popularity of podcasts.

“As well as the increase in popularity, it is clear that the drought has impacted people’s time. It is a struggle to take time away from the farm to attend workshops,” explained Max.

Being able to access the podcasts at a convenient time provides a further opportunity for people to engage with the series.

“It’s easy to listen to a podcast when travelling or working and performing daily tasks. It also has the added benefit of being able to rewind, pause or return to the podcast at your leisure, particularly to refresh your memory on a topic”, he said.

The podcasts will be available to stream through Spotify, Apple Podcast and other podcast platforms. Simply search “Productive Producer”.

Max hopes to see landholders tuning in and reaping the rewards of becoming even more productive as a result of listening to the series.
